Local 541 recently handed out Every Child Matters tee made by Indigenous Proud to encourage members to learn more about Truth and Reconciliation Calls 80 and 57.
June is National Indigenous History Month since 2009. June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day since 1996. Both the month and day is about celebrating Indigenous History and is a great opportunity to learn about the cultures and history of the Indigenous people. However, for this National Indigenous History Month, I actually want to highlight a different day.
The International Women’s Day March in Toronto was more than just a city celebration–it was a powerful testament to the strength and unity of women everywhere. Hosted by the incredible women of the CEIU Regional Women’s Committee, it was an eye-opening experience that left a lasting impact of advocacy, sisterhood and strength.

The Women’ Committee joined by women across all government departments and members of equity groups led a training called “Diversity Grows Our Strength” from February 29 to March 3. I had the privilege of participating in the International Women’s Day March, Saturday March 2, to create exposure for our union local.
On February 13, 2024, the PSAC Toronto Racially Visible Committee held a Black History Month event. It was a great night filled with African drum beats, great food and amazing guest speakers.
