The Women’s Committee would like to thank all our members joint efforts during our Bake Sale and Charity Drive! We raised a total of $675 for Yellow Brick House and were able to donate essentials, clothing, and hygiene products to them.

Local 541 hosted a Hybrid AGM at Cosmo Music (in-person) and MS Teams (virtual) to discuss the state of finances, Stop the Clock announcement, Remote Works Campaign, and provide updates from the Women’s Committee.

Food for Thought 💭

Our first-ever Food for Thought event was a feast for both the mind and the stomach, as members gathered to listen to Paul Giancarlo (SEDP Director) and Anna Shen (ICPD SPDO) — who took us on a journey through their careers in the public service.

To help our members celebrate outside the office, Local 541 also reimbursed $75 per diem for members attending any Diwali Festival of Lights events :).

Filipino Heritage Month – June 25, 2024

In true Filipino AND 541 spirit, we dished out some yummy food to our members!

There was ensaymada, cheese puto, ube halaya, maja blanca, kutchinta, biko, pichi pichi, and sapin sapin available to all 541 members this past Tuesday, June 25.

Annual General Meeting – April 21, 2024

CEIU Local 541 April AGM

Thanks for coming to our AGM! We hope those who made it enjoyed the food, and we hope those who won the giveaways enjoyed shop to their heart’s content on Amazon and enjoy their free gas.

Eid ul-Fitr – April 15, 2024 to April 18, 2024

A Week of Eid

Union Local 541 handed out free goodies to all members to celebrate A Week of Eid from Monday, April 15 to Thursday, April 18 at PDOC! There was Gulab Jamun, Motichur Ladoo, Khoya Peda, Malai Peda, Baklava, Turkish Delight, assortments of Arab sugar and butter cookies, and definitely some tooth decay.

Local 541 and a few of its members attended a lecture on Black Reconstructions: Race, Educational History and the Problem of the Archive given by the Professor of Education and African and African American Studies at Harvard University.

International Women’s Day – March 8, 2024

International Women’s Day Virtual Event: Day of Purple

Local 541 empowers and invests in women. For International Women’s Day, we hosted a virtual event highlighting two impactful women at PDOC. Four lucky members also won $250 spa gift cards!

Black History Month – February 20, 2024

Black History Month with Authentic West Indian Cuisine

As part of Black History Month celebrations, Local 541 provided members delicious West Indian cuisine to complement the PDOC BHM Committee’s presentation.
