ELECTION :  2nd Vice President

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume the responsibilities of the President in the event of his/her incapacity or temporary absence;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Local President;
  • Attend committee meetings of the Local Executive when appointed to do so;
  • Report on his/her activities to all general meetings of the Local;
  • In general, be responsible to the Local membership and perform such duties as may be required by the Local Executive.

CEIU National Convention

The CEIU National Convention is where union members from across the country come together to make key decisions about the future of our union. Delegates debate and vote on resolutions, set priorities, and elect national leadership. It’s one of the most important democratic spaces in CEIU, where members’ voices directly shape policies and direction. What happens at convention impacts our workplaces, our rights, and how we organize moving forward.

The CEIU National Convention will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from September 14 to 18, 2026.

 Nominations for Delegates/Alternates

Local 541 will be gathering names of potential Delegates and Alternates for the CEIU National Convention. An election may be held in May to confirm who will be the Delegate(s)/Alternate(s) from Local 541. All nominations will require a nominator and a seconder. This process in April is not a guarantee that the person being nominated will go to CEIU National Convention.

 Resolutions

Resolutions are requests where you are looking for a specific change within the union that is unrelated to bargaining demands. Local 541 will present a number of resolutions to submit to CEIU National Convention. Some of these resolutions have been obtained from other CEIU Committees.

 Motion for an Observer

A callout for Observers will occur on May 27. However, the Local wishes to motion that we cover the cost of 1 observer to attend the CEIU National Convention.

The estiminated cost breakdown is as follows:

  • $730/night for 6 nights + taxes/fees = $5000
  • $150/day per diems for meals for 7 days = $1050
  • Round-trip flight = $700-$900
  • Salary lost for PM-02 Step 3 = $1500
  • Total: $8250 to $8450, excluding any transportation/child care costs

We hope to see you at the AGM! Your participation helps shape the direction of Local 541 and ensures we continue representing members effectively.
